SCHOOL FEES POLICY

ARISH GROUP OF SCHOOLS, PAYMENT OF SCHOOL FEES POLICY (2020)

1 Introduction

1.1 The prompt payment of school fees is integral to the life blood of the school.

1.2 School fees are always due on or before the start of the current school term and are Non-refundable.

2 Aims and objectives

2.1 The aim of this policy is to ensure a robust, non-discriminatory and fair approach to the method by which we deal with parents who have not paid their child’s school fees on time. Please note that this policy forms part of the existing Schools Policy and affects your child’s place at Arish.

2.2 The objective of this policy is to ensure there is consistency in terms of approach and methodology.

Parents who enroll their children at Arish assume a moral and legal obligation to pay school fees.

It is also the responsibility of parents to notify the School Management if they are experiencing difficulty with the payment of fees.

A minimum of ONE term’s OR FOUR (4) months’ notice for an increase in tuition fees shall be adhered to by the School Management.

3 What Are The Fees?

3.1 The school fee is set by the school’s Governing Council before the next academic year. Fees may be increased as required due to any increases in costs in sustaining the school and ensuring that the school can provide competitive salary to our teachers and better resources around the school.

4 Sibling discounts (3 siblings minimum in each separate school) are outlined in the calculations section of this policy. Students on special discount such as the siblings will not be eligible for early payment discount.

5 What Does The Fees Include?

5.1 Tuition Fee

Tuition fees are charged every academic term. The fees vary with the seniority of the class the child is in. Tuition fees encompass the cost of direct teaching staff, learning materials/resources, internet as well as the overheads associated with running the school.

The use of school books and equipment is also included. Other costs, for example, school educational trips are charged for separately during the course of the year.

5.2 School fees and other charges applicable per term would be communicated in writing to parents in form of a bill and via newsletter. All fees are to be paid on or before the beginning of the trimester to the designated bank account. No pupil will be allowed in the school/class unless all fees are paid.

5.3 The Administration reserves the right to hold student records, which may include trimester report cards, transcripts, transfer records and other formal school documents, in the event of any owed fees, unreturned texts, library books, team uniforms or other school property, or, outstanding school record requirements from the Registrar’s Office (i. e passport photographs etc), such as emergency contact information, student health forms and updated immunization records.

6 Payment of fees

6.1 Parents or guardians agree to pay the fees applicable to each term directly to the schools nominated bank account.

6.2 Fees for each term are due and payable as cleared funds before the commencement of the term to which they relate. If an item on the fees invoice is under query, the ‘undisputed’ balance of that fees invoice must be paid.

6.3 Payment of Fees by a third party

6.4 An agreement with a third party (such as School Fee Plan) to pay the fees or any other sum due to the school does not release the parents from liability if the third party defaults and does not affect the operation of any other of these terms and conditions unless an express release has been given in writing, signed by the Headteacher.

7 Early Payment Discount

7.1 Fees which are paid in full by the first day of term will qualify for an early payment discount of =N=2,500 per term per child. Other discounts are available for paying multiple terms in advance. Please see the school bursar for details.

8 Instalment arrangements (Payment Plan)

8.1 An agreement by the school to accept payment of fees by instalments is

concessionary and will be subject to separate agreement(s) between the parents and

the School.

8.2 Any agreements (payment plans) will be confirmed in writing and signed by both

parties.

8.3 If parents have entered into a payment plan with the school and more than one payment is missed, then the school reserves the right to request the full amount immediately.

8.4 If instalments are missed and/or paid late then appropriate action, which could include pupil exclusion, will then be taken.

9 Late Payments

9.1 If a debt rises to an unacceptable level, the school reserves the right, in extreme cases to exclude the pupil on three days’ written notice if fees remain overdue for payment.

9.2 If a pupil is excluded for a period of 28 days, he / she will be deemed withdrawn without notice and a term’s fees in lieu of notice will be payable immediately by the Parents.

10 Refund or waiver of school fees

10.1 Except where there is a legal liability under a court order or under the provisions of this agreement to make a refund, fees will not be refunded or waived if:

10.2 The pupil is absent through illness; or

10.3 A term is shortened or a vacation extended; or

10.4 The Pupil is released home before the normal end of the school day; or

10.5 The school is temporarily closed due, for example, to adverse weather conditions; or

10.6 For any other reasonable reason.

11 Fee increases

11.1 Fees are reviewed annually and are subject to increase from time to time.

11.2 If parents receive less than a term’s notice of a fees increase they may give to the school written notice of withdrawal of the pupil within 21 days and will not be liable to pay fees in lieu of notice.

11.3 The pupil deposit, if paid, will be refunded without interest less any sums owing to the

school.

12 Siblings

12.1 Parents with more than two children at the school will be afforded a 7% discount exclusively on tuition fees.

13 Exam Candidates

13.1 Exam candidates need to settle outstanding fees before registration of exams failing which they will not be registered for same.

14 Late Admissions

14.1 Students admitted any time before half term will be charged the full term’s fees but if one joins after half term, the fee will be prorated and only 50% of the term’s fees will be charged.
